Jane Moulding partners with leaders, especially emerging leaders, to help them tap into their own wisdom, and the combined wisdom of their teams. A big believer in the power of smart leadership, Jane has experienced firsthand the power of accessing her own wisdom by collaborating with colleagues, other leaders and talented consultants. She brings her vast accomplishments in school administration to SmarterWisdom Consulting.

During her time as head of The Cambridge School of Weston, a leading progressive high school located in the Boston area, Jane lived and modeled effective team building, strong mentorship systems, and sustainable leadership. Her work with trustees, administration, and faculty ensured the success of CSW. At CSW Jane was instrumental in transforming and expanding the school’s academic programs while developing and deepening interdisciplinary curriculum within a learning environment devoted to the arts and creative problem-solving. She also led two significant capital campaigns, ensuring the sustainability of the school through fund-raising and relationship building.

Jane grew up and attended university and graduate school in the UK. In addition, she completed a masters’ degree at Harvard University Extension School in 19th Century British and American Literature (favorite book: Jane Eyre). Her teaching career spanned work in the UK, The Netherlands, Tripoli, Libya and the Boston area. Jane honed her leadership style and skills as a dean of faculty at a Boston area independent school and later as the director of the middle school at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School, Cambridge, MA. More recently, Jane was a senior associate at HirschHills Consulting, a strategy consulting firm that equips and emboldens individuals and organizations to move in new and groundbreaking directions, before co-founding SmarterWisdom Consulting with Marcie Schorr Hirsch.

FROM COLLEAGUES…

I’ve been fortunate to see Jane’s leadership in action firsthand during my tenure as a trustee and as Board Chair at The Cambridge School of Weston. What I’ve observed is that Jane always leads from her heart, is thoughtful in how she makes decisions, and always keeps foremost in her thinking the impact those decisions have on others. Jane has modeled through her leadership the values of caring and consideration which is an enormous part of the unique culture that gives students room to thrive at CSW. She has also been a strong mentor to her staff and enabled them to grow and develop into the strong leadership team that has allowed CSW to continue to expand its mission over her 17 year tenure there.

Jane has been a mentor and thought partner to me for over thirty years. She brings incredibly insightful and incisive guidance undergirded by vast and diverse leadership experience in a variety of schools. At once, she challenges and supports. She is efficient and effective. As a direct result of her strategic advising, coaching, and extremely generous moral support, I was able to make a career transformation and pivot into an entirely new role in an organization that never would have been possible without her.

I have worked closely with Jane over many years, and partnered with her in the founding of the Progressive Education Lab, a collaborative endeavor among a group of schools to mentor new teachers and create agents of change in the profession. Jane is wise, clear-headed and invariably generous in her coaching of others. I have learned an enormous amount from her over the years and any school she consults with will be well served.
